the aftermath of the titanic clash
alright, this may seem a little late. but i'm still feeling the pain of the red devils' defeat at the hands of poseurs barca. granted, and to be fair, and to give credit where credit is due, the better team of the night won. and if i may say so, barca were the better team throughout the season. nonetheless, being a fan of the red devils, i can't help but hoped for their triumph against all odds.
i've been a manchester united fan for years, but more so as a fan of the 1999 treble winning team, with the legendary becks gracing the no. 7 jersey. today's man united is far from their heyday i think. giggsy, carrick, scholes are still assets to any team. but their aging limbs couldn't match the rhythm dictated by xavi and inesta, as the world saw on 28 may 2011. although tied at 1-1, thanks to a brilliant rooney equaliser, the red devils hardly had a chance in the 2nd half. and with the game play orchestrated by barca, it was only a matter of time before the red devils fell.
it would have been more interesting had manchested united faced real madrid instead in the finals - the dream final as the special one would call it. but fate would not have it so. granted, the special one was a little too vocal in the media. but taking a step back, his frustrations were valid. refereeing decisions played a major role in real madrid's defeat. and further back in the quarter finals, the same decisions were also made in barca's favour to eliminate arsenal. perhaps it was a different picture on the pitch. but from a fan's viewpoint or a futbol fan's perspective, there was hardly a good reason for van persie to be sent off, for pepe to be sent off, for barca's players escape booking for repeated acting, for higuain's goal to be disallowed, etc. otherwise, barca wouldn't have been made it to the wembley.
next season... justice will be served... fuerza real madrid!

manchester united vs barcelona
on may 28, the red devils meet blaugrana in the 2010-2011 champions league showdown at wembley. as a man united fan of many years, my support defintiely goes to the red devils. in the recent year however, i've grown to like los blancos and support them in wrestling the spain dominance from barca.
personally, i like the way barca plays like a team. their passes and chemistry are phenomenal. however, i am very disappointed in the way they carry themselves in the game. it is a known fact that in europe, referees blow the whistle more often, making fake injuries pay off better. in the recent classicos, i don't understand why pepe was sent off, why alves was not penalised for pretending to be seriously injured, why higuain's goal was disallowed.
the special one was clearly too vocal and possibly took things too far in his public remarks. but i can understand his anger, as a fan of futbol and madrid. maybe his sarcastic remark will be put to practice in the next season - to practise with 10 men.
nonetheless, it's over and i foresee man united dictating the pace (ie slowing it down) and emerging champions at wembley.
2-0 -> glory! glory! man united!
